William C Libbe, 100, died April 28, 2023, at Ohio Living Swan Creek, Toledo, OH. He was born December 2, 1922 to J Carl Libbe and Mildred (Wacker) Libbe in Toledo. He attended Scott High School, graduating in 1940. After 2 years at the University of Toledo, he enlisted in the Navy and was assigned to a torpedo squadron as a radar technician. After his honorable discharge, he re-enrolled at UT and completed his Bachelors of Business Administration degree in 1949. He worked for various companies in sales and accounting before being employed by the Internal Revenue Service for 22 years. He retired from the IRS in 1984.
Bill attended St Paul’s Lutheran and Hope Lutheran churches, both in Toledo, where he sang in the choir for many years. He also was a member of High 12 International, the Shriners, and Scottish Rite. Bill enjoyed the game of golf for many years.
Bill married his wife, Mary Meyer Rahe, on June 3, 1967. She preceded him in death in 2018. Bill is survived by daughter Pamela (Alan) Kimmel, Rodney (Phyllis) Libbe and Scott (Jane) Libbe: grandchildren Robert (Jaime) Kimmel, Tom (Susannah) Kimmel, Brian Libbe, Neil (Jenna) Libbe, Cindy Libbe (Eric Henderson), Katie (Jake) Sautter, Laura (Matt) Polachek, Sarah (Lynn) Groll and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carolyn Frost, brother Charles Libbe and John Libbe as well as his wife, Mary.
There will be no visitation, and graveside services will be private. A special thanks goes to the staff, nurses and admin at Ohio Living Swan Creek for the special care and love they provided. The family suggests memorials to the Ohio Living Swan Creek Foundation, 5916 Cresthaven Lane, Toledo, OH 43614.
