Walter Reed Tucker went home to the Lord on Friday November 3, 2017. Born October 26,1934 he spent many years as an avid cyclist, runner and triathlete. His many achievements include running, numerous marathons including the Boston Marathon, cycling from coast to coast across the US and touring Europe on his bike. Walt also loved woodworking and aviation often piloting his own aircraft. He loved an adventure and tackled challenges with sheer determination and will. Walt served honorably in both the Navy and Marines, worked as a mechanical engineer, and was a pioneer in the computer industry designing one of the first computer inventory systems for the City of Toledo. He is survived by Rita Tucker, his wife of 53 years, his daughters Laura Tucker (Brian Baxendell), Christine Korotnayi (Charlie) Suzan Packo and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of his life. Walt will be missed by family and friends but we all know he is entering heaven through the pearly gates and on his bike. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or The American Heart Association. The family will receive guests Tuesday from 2-8pm at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:30am with internment following at Ottawa Hills Cemetery. walterfuneralhome.com or our facebook page.
