Virginia Schad Virginia Jeanne (Weber) Schad passed to the nearer presence of the Father on Wednesday, August 3 at Spring Meadows Villa Center. Born in Toledo, Ohio on March 27, 1928 to George and Millie (Barber) Weber, Virginia was the oldest of their three girls. She spent her early years living in the south end of Toledo in the German end of town and graduated from Libby High School in 1946. After graduation, she rode the Community Traction bus back and forth from the little diner where she worked near the University of Toledo and met the love of her life, Edward V. Schad, who drove her bus daily and had “the handsomest neck she had ever seen.” Ed and Virginia married in September 1949 and worked various jobs while both went to the University of Toledo to continue their studies to become educators. Ed taught in the Perrysburg Schools and Virginia taught in the Adams Township, soon to become Toledo School system where she spent her 25 years teaching first graders at Glendale Elementary and then Glendale-Feilbach. She retired from teaching in 1986 and enjoyed retirement and traveling with her Eddie and their dog, Buttons, in their RV. They traveled all across the United States and Canada and finally settled back home in Maumee. Ed and Virginia enjoyed gardening, traveling, visiting with good friends, quiet nights together at home, taking care of an assortment of cats and dogs, and cooking and baking. Virginia was known for her homemade German potato bread and also her chicken and home made noodles. She was such an incredibly caring and kind sister, aunt, mother, wife, and friend who had a just of touch of snarkiness to even out all the niceness. She will be missed forever by her family and friends, but now she is with her Eddie and with the Father and is at peace. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Millie Weber, her sisters and their husbands, Ruth and Lyle Green, and Betty Lou and Leslie Ziler, her husband, Ed, and her son, David, Surviving are her daughter, Suzanne, her sister and brother-in law, Norma and Clyde Englehardt, special nephew and his wife, Scott and Angie Green, and special niece, Cheri Pollauf, as well as countless other nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Wayne Street in Maumee from 10 am – 12 noon on Wednesday, August 10th with a funeral service at 12 noon. A funeral luncheon will follow the service. Graveside services will be private. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Spring Meadows Care Center nurses and doctors who took care of Virginia and to NW Ohio Hospice nurses, Leah and Hailey, who provided such compassionate care in her last days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Maumee, to Maumee Valley Save A Pet, Hill Avenue, Toledo, or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
