Violet J. Kohler

Violet J. Kohler, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 6, 2015. She was born on January 20, 1931, to Margaret and Earl Pomeroy. In 1949 she graduated from Libbey High School and shortly after, married the love of her life, Walter (Pete) Kohler in 1950. She worked as an executive secretary for Prestolite until her retirement in 1990 after 30 years of service. Violet most enjoyed being with her family and doing anything as long as it was with them. Family was always a number one priority. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crafts and going to dinner with friends. She also took delight in her friends from the Red Hat Society. Violet and her late husband Pete loved Avon Park, Florida where they spent a lot of their retirement together. Another one of their mutual joys was boating and for many years they were both members of the Toledo Sailing Club. Violet volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital and was active in the Auxiliary. She was a "Red Hatter" and member of the American Legion and VFW in Avon Park, Florida. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pete; her parents, Earl and Margaret Pomeroy; her brother, Ralph and sisters, Ginny, Evelyn, Midge and Jean. Violet is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Jay) Heintschel and granddaughter, Lauren Heintschel. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, December 10 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave., Toledo, OH. Services will be held Friday, December 11 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Dr. Tim Kasunic and Angie as well as Trixie, Kristie and all the Hospice of Northwest Ohio nurses for taking such wonderful care of Violet.
