Thomas Charles Dumas

Thomas Charles Dumas, 82, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2020. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on March 29, 1938 to Thomas and Hilda Dumas. Tom was a 1956 graduate of Central Catholic High School. On July 4, 1959, Tom married the love of his life, Bonnie. They raised four children together, and celebrated life as one for over 60 years. Tom’s love for Bonnie was truly expressed until his last breath. We know he is now where he wanted to be, with her. Tom proudly served on the Toledo Police Department for 30 years, and retired as a detective on January 30, 1992. After retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife, breakfast gatherings with “the Guys” and being an avid bird watcher. Tom was a true family man. He was happiest when he was surrounded by family. His sense of humor captured the smiles of many. He loved telling jokes and playing pranks on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sister Helen Tillinger and grandchildren Eric and Hannah Dumas. Surviving are his children; Michael, Daniel (Sue), Kathleen (Rickey) Cousino, and Patricia (James) Williams; grandchildren Aaron, Amber, Nicole (Jake), Mackenzie, Angelique (Jeremy), Rickey (Sarah), Samantha (Shane), Corine and Allison (Zachary); brother Ronald (Patricia), and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, on Tuesday, November 10th from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. A Scripture service will begin at 7:00 pm, Funeral prayers will begin at the funeral home Wednesday morning at 10:15 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 11:00 am.
