Theron W. Roberts

Theron Wilson Roberts, of Toledo, Ohio passed away at the age of 97, on February 9, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Theron was born in Findlay, Ohio on July 21, 1918 to Andrew and Hazel (Long) Roberts and was affectionately referred to as “Jiggs” by his family and friends. Preceding him in death was his wife of 60 years, Dorothy June (Taylor) Roberts. Theron is survived by his two children , Randa (Paul) Betz, Todd (Michelle) Roberts and grandchildren , Brad (Erin) Betz, Courtney (Brett) Gilts, Barrett (Rachael) Betz and great grandson Bryce Gilts. Also surviving are two of his ten siblings, Patricia Knapp, Charles Roberts and his beloved friend, Carolyn Warns. Theron worked 14 years in supervision and engineering at Swartzbaugh Manufacturing and then worked for 32 years at Owens Illinois Corporate Research in the Glass Technology Department. Theron liked to play golf, garden and travel. He belonged to the Maumee Elks Lodge. God gave him the gift to love life and his family. The family will receive guests at The Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, on Friday, February 12th at 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. A private family burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
