Theda M. Ruetz

Theda M. Ruetz, age 99 and one week, died July 26, 2023. She was born July 18, 1924 in Vilonia, Arkansas to Odis and Grace Goss.

Following high school, she moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where she met Carl L. Ruetz to whom she was married for 67 years. They moved to the Heatherdowns area of South Toledo and lived there for 53 years before moving to Otterbein Retirement Community in Pemberville, Ohio. She had been a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church since 1952.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, parents, sister, and three brothers. Surviving are her sons, Carl Jr. of Waterville, Ohio and David (Sherry) of Cadillac, Michigan, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Theda will always be remembered for having an open front door to welcome all visitors with a warm smile, some good cookies, or a slice of delicious pie. She will forever be “Mama Ruetz” to all generations of her kids.

Services will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, with the Reverend James Budke, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to noon with the service following. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1825 Glendale Avenue, Toledo 43614.
