Terry E. “Shu” Shuman, 78, of Maumee passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on April 11, 2017. Terry was born on November 11, 1938 in Toledo to Charles and Kathryn Shuman. A 1956 graduate of Libbey High School, he went on to work at the Ford Stamping Plant in Maumee as a Tool and Die maker. He married the love of his life, Sandy, on January 27, 1961. An avid golfer, he was also a street-rodder, spending his daughter, Kari’s, inheritance on his ’32 Ford Roadster. Terry and Sandy were also past members of Heatherdowns and Brandywine Country Club. He is preceded in death by his son, Terry J. Shuman; father, Charles Shuman; and stepfather, Lou Bruno. He is survived by his mother, Kathryn Bruno; wife, Sandy; daughter, Kari (Chip) Reese; grandchildren, Terry Jay (Leah) Walter and Briana Walter-Benton (Jonathan); great-grandson, Jonathan Benton Jr.; brother, Gerry Shuman (Ann); and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, April 14, from 2pm-8pm at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave, Toledo where services will also be held on Saturday, April 15th, at 9am. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassion and care.
