Susan J. Christofel-Meyer

Susan passed away on October 17, 2023. Susan was born on January 1, 1947 to Shirley and Donald Christofel. Following graduation from Ridgeville High School, Susan entered Flower Hospital School of Nursing where she learned to love surgical nursing. She worked in Flower Hospital Surgery from 1969 to 1984. She then started up and managed the Toledo Clinic Outpatient Surgery Center from 1984 to 1997. In 1997, Susan started up and managed Wildwood Surgical Center, leaving Wildwood August 1, 2013. She was also employed by The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) as a surveyor, surveying other health care entities for accreditation and Medicare Certification. Susan retired from AAAHC October 1, 2022 upon the diagnosis of Glioblastoma.
Susan met her life partner, Gary, in high school. They were married March 23, 1968. Together they enjoyed many wonderful experiences traveling to various islands and countries as scuba diving buddies searching for seahorses, taking pictures of the underwater beauty, cruising with family and friends, and playing golf.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Amy Meyer. Surviving are Gary, her husband of 55+ years; son, Ryan (Kaitlyn); granddaughter, Ashley Watson; brother, Daniel (Beverly) Christofel; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Susan thanks Gary for his excellent, kind, patient, and loving care provided, and for his creativity in the things he “invented” to make daily activities easier for her. Thank you to dear friends Kathy, Candy, Linda, and Pam who traveled this journey with Susan from beginning to end with love and kindness, and so generously gave of their time so they could be together as long as possible.
The family will receive visitors at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43614, on Friday, November 3, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be an additional visitation on Saturday, November 4, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 628 Lime City Road, Rossford, Ohio 43460, at which time the Funeral Mass, presided over by Father Scott Woods, will be celebrated. A luncheon will follow. The Committal Service held inside the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum will be at a later date.
