Sherlene A. Moore, 82 received her long-awaited promotion to heaven at Heartland Promedica on Monday, January 21st after a long struggle with many health issues. She was born August 25, 1936 in Toledo, OH to parents John and Hazel Moore who proceeded her in death. Sherlene was a graduate of the class of 1954 from Libby High School and overcame many difficulties in her life. She fulfilled her lifelong goal of living independently after her parents passed away by living across the street from her caregivers for the past 27 years. This was made possible by the sacrifices of her very loving and dedicated parents. While she was physically able, she spent many years blessing others with her gifts of beautiful hand made afghans and her favorite desserts. She was a lifetime member of Calvary Bible Chapel and was one of the founding members. She and her family were a part of the beginning church that met at the VFW Post on Sylvania Avenue. She loved singing in the choir and even in Hospice care she sang many of those songs over and over that she learned while being a part of the choir. Sherlene considered her church family to be her family after her parents passing since she had no other surviving family. She is forever grateful to the Ladies’ Prayer group who where so faithful to send her cards and visit. Sherlene is survived by Shirley Mowery, her caregiver of 29 years. Also, to be remembered is her shopping buddy Ray Mowery who helped with Sherlene’s care for many years before his passing. A very special thanks to her nurse’s aide Paula Woods who gave her such loving care for the past ten years, thus enabling Sherlene to stay in her home until just recently. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday January 24th at Calvary Bible Chapel, 3740 W. Alexis Road, Toledo, OH where the funeral service will follow at 11am. Internment will be at the Toledo Memorial Park. A celebration of life dinner will be held in Sherlene’s honor per her request in the fellowship hall at the church following the service. Those wishing to offer memorials in her memory may consider the Ladies Prayer group at Calvary Bible Chapel. Arrangements by Walter Funeral Home. (Per Sherlene’s request this obituary will not appear in the Blade.)
