Ruthann Irene Sielken, 81, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital after a 3 year battle with cancer. She was born October 2, 1939 in Toledo. Her parents were The Rev. Marvin F. Sielken and Verna (Papenfus) Sielken, both natives of Toledo. Ruthann graduated from Hillsdale College and attended Toledo University. She was employed at the State Hospital for 9 years after college. She left that position to be self-employed for most of her life. She represented several correspondence schools, managed several apartment complexes, and tutored high school and college level math and chemistry. She also worked as a substitute teacher. She learned book binding in her spare time and became accomplished in that art. Upon the death of her Aunt Irene Papenfus, she moved into the house her grandfather built, where she resided until her death. She is survived by her two sisters Miriam Cook of Angola, IN, and Karen (Dave) Weesner of Colorado Springs, CO, two nieces, Jodie and Michelle, one nephew, Matthew, and several great nieces and nephews. Donations in Ruthann’s honor can be made out to Church of the Cross to assist the family with funeral expenses. The funeral service will be held at Church of the Cross, 1750 Eastgate Rd. Toledo, Ohio, on Wednesday, December 23rd at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
