Ruth E. Farnsworth

Ruth E. Farnsworth, 89, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 at the Toledo Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on August 16, 1933 to John and Addie (Young) Appling.

Ruth was a 1951 graduate of Waite High School. She worked 3 1/2 years for the Toledo Edison Company as a bookkeeper and cashier, and 17 years for the Toledo Board of Education as a Food Service Manager.

Ruth was a member of Faith United Church of Christ and the Maumee Senior Center. She was a Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher and Voting Poll worker. Ruth enjoyed reading, playing cards, bowling, camping and roller skate dancing.

Ruth married Russell Farnsworth on January 25, 1953, and he preceded her in death on January 6, 2000.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, David Farnsworth; grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan Fether; siblings, Earl, John and Don Appling, Dorthy Hite, Alma Tracey, Helen Maxcy, and Eloise Leathers.

Ruth is survived by her children, Doug (Becky) Farnsworth, Toledo, Ohio, Deanna (Eric) Fether, Napoleon, Ohio, and Daniel Farnsworth, Pemberville, Ohio; grandchildren, Lauren (Joe) Simpson, Jordon, Daniel Jr. and Logan Farnsworth, Janelle Fether (Matt Price) and Brent (Miranda) Fether; siblings, ClareAnn Boczan, Kathy Glass, Clifford and George Appling.

Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, on Sunday, March 5th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville, Ohio.
