Russell Iverson

Russell Iverson, 95, of Whitehouse, Ohio passed away December 15, 2015, at Whitehouse Country Manor. Russell was born in Winnebago County, Iowa to Rasmus and Louise (Brudos) Iverson. After high school, Russell enlisted in the Army Air Corps and became a B-24 Bomber pilot, and was part of the "Jolly Rogers 90th Bomb Group" during WWII. After the war, he was a general aviator pilot, crop duster and pilot instructor, and in the 1950's became a corporate pilot for various companies. Russell retired in 1980 as a corporate pilot for Owens Corning Fiberglass. Russell was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed walking in the metroparks, and bowling. Russell married Norma (Oestreich) on July 2, 1943, and together raised five children, Douglas (Ruth) Iverson, Danny (Carol) Iverson, Rebecca (John) Petee, Sharon (Chuck) Todd and Steven (Mary) Iverson. He had 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren and also step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale Avenue, Toledo.
