Ronald R. Wehner, 88, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on July 28 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky after a long illness. He was a WWII veteran who earned 5 bronze stars while serving on the USS Sage in the Philippines. After the war, he enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard where he fought in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars before retiring after 21 years of service. He then worked for the City of Toledo, Dept. of Water Reclamation for 20 years. He was fond of saying that you didn't need a great job, just retire a lot. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Burnetta Velliquette Wehner, two sisters, Ida Onweller of Morenci, MI, and Berneda Foreman of Napoleon, OH, three brothers, Chuck of Vista, CA, and Ray and Robert of Oak Harbor, OH. He is survived by his identical twin brother, Donald of Kansas City, KS, and also brothers Gerald and Roger of Oak Harbor, OH. He also leaves to mourn his passing, wife Judy of Toledo, OH and son Kristopher (Lisa Freitas) and beloved grandchildren Aidan, Olivia, and June of Alameda, CA. He was a person of integrity, honesty, and uncommon wit, who will be sorely missed by his many nieces, nephews, and close friends. There will be a viewing from 2 to 8pm on Tuesday, August 2nd, with a funeral service at 10:30 am on Wednesday August 3rd at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave. Toledo with graveside services to follow in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
