Robert E. Mallory

Robert E. Mallory, loving husband of Betty R. (Ellis) for 64 years, quietly broke free of his many physical limitations Monday evening to join his brother, Don, who had gone on before him several years ago. Born in 1925, Bob graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1943 and joined the Air Force as a Tail Gunner in a B-17 over Germany in World War II. He graduated with a business degree from the University of Toledo in 1957 and worked at Teledyne, National Supply, A&P Tea Company as a warehouse manager and then worked for many years as a Prudential insurance agent. Upon retiring, Bob taught reading to people who were working towards their GED’s, participated in the Old News boys charities and enjoyed his Prudential and Marriage Encounter friends. He was a longtime member of Augsburg Lutheran church and then St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maumee. He now watches over three daughters Sherri (Tony) Stiriz, Merri Flisnik and Vicki Mallory; grandchildren Corie (George) Liberios, Jaime (Jason) Meyers and Lathen Mallory Cowell and two great-grandchildren Kylee and Karsyn. Also survived by brother James (Donna) Mallory and their children: Jim Mallory, Diane (Don) Plaskon and Sandy (Rob) Peterson and the son of brother Don (Katherine) Mallory, nephew Dr. David G. (Pat) Mallory and their children: Ryan (Hassina), Beth, Kassie and Emma. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 28, 2015 at The Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m Tuesday, December 29th. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of NW Ohio or to the Lakes of Monclova Health Care Center.
