Robert J. Armstrong 1943 – 2017 Bob passed away peacefully on January 7th. In early November Bob was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. The tumor was a massive gliobastoma and inoperable. Since he had no symptoms, this came as a total shock to his family and friends. Bob was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 25th, 1943 to William and Maxine Armstrong. Bob was 1961 graduate of Libbey High School and attended the University of Toledo. Bob started his career with Bostwick Braun as a salesman and at the time of his retirement was Vice President of Dealer Sales. He was a loyal employee and proud of working 34 years for Bostwick Braun. Bob was a born salesman and after retirement worked part time as at similar companies. He loved engaging people in conversations, even strangers. Bob and Cassie enjoyed summers at their cottage near Hillsdale, Michigan and more recently weekends on Lake Erie. Bob became involved in the Toledo Harbor Lighthouse Society and became a member of the National Museum of the Great Lakes. Bob and Cassie enjoyed traveling and were fortunate to visit Europe, Mexico, Canada and many of the fifty states including Alaska and Hawaii. They also took numerous cruises. Bob and Cassie’s favorite vacation was along the shores of Lake Michigan. Bob was “Strong for Toledo”: the Mudhens, the Walleye, UT football and basketball, the Zoo, the Symphony, the Art Museum and longtime member of the Maumee Elks. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. Bob was a loyal guy and was always there for anyone in need. His ready smile, sense of humor and love for life were contagious. He made the world a better place. Bob’s impact on our lives will remain in our hearts forever. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Cassie (Demski) Armstrong along with their two beloved dogs McDuff and Mozart; his niece Dawn Armstrong and nephew Bill Armstrong; dedicated sister in law and brother in law Jim and Stacy Petot who were there around the clock during his illness, the Demski’s, the Petot family (Routon’s and Underhill’s) and several cousins.
