Richard Stanley Damschroder Sr., 85, made his final journey on August 19, 2022. He was born here in Toledo on March 9, 1937 to Stanley and Leah Damschroder. Richard graduated from Edward Drummond Libbey High School in 1955 and worked for Columbia Gas of Ohio for 37 years. Richard was a season ticket holder for the Cleveland Browns for 18 years. He was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Richard enjoyed doing puzzles and playing solitaire. He loved woodworking and built numerous cabinets for relatives and friends. He liked both driving and viewing old vintage cars. No matter where he went, Richard always found someone he knew, including out of state. He was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends, and was a proud owner of “Red’s Acres.” He fulfilled his life-long dream of visiting all 50 of the United States in 2006. Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard Stanley, Jr., and his sisters, Phyllis and Carol. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Elaine (Ebright) Damschroder; daughter, Sally Damschroder; brother, Nelson (Ethel) Damschroder; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be held at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, on Tuesday, August 23rd, from 2 to 8 p.m . Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, American Cancer Society or Northwest Ohio Diabetes Association.
