Raymond L. Taylor Raymond "Mitz" L. Taylor, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2021 with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 2, 1935 to Richard and Beatrice (Lebowsky) Taylor. Ray married Sharon (Rahm) and spent 63 wonderful years together. As a young man, Ray worked alongside his father and brothers driving dump trucks for his father’s trucking business and later sailed the Great Lakes as a deckhand on The Hennepin (Socapa) Lake Freighter. Ray finished his career at GM Powertrain and retired after 31 years of service. Ray was well known for his mechanic skills and was often found in his garage working on a car or tinkering around with different projects. He was an avid sports fan, especially Detroit Lions football and Detroit Red Wings Hockey. Ray also enjoyed taking road trips to the casinos in Michigan and Canada. He loved the outdoors and cherished spending his time camping, gardening and fishing with family. Ray was a true family man and was lovingly known as “Pa” to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He lit up a room with his laugh and a smile and everyone he met called him their friend. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Beatrice; his brothers, Richard, Harvey, Edward, Norman, and Gene; and his sister, JoAnne. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sharon; his sons, Mark (Linda), Kevin (Becky), and David (Shirley). He is also survived by brothers, John (Martha), Jerry, Paul (Denise), James (Janet), and sisters Janet and Sharon. Raymond is also survived by his grandchildren, Ryan (Breann), Rachel (James), Alyssa, Seth, Jacob and Wyatt, and great-grandchildren Grace, Gabrielle, Parker, Ashton and Meredith. Services will be held at Walter Funeral Home on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Walter Funeral Home on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville, Ohio. The family ask that donations be made to Promedica Hospice.
