Raymond E. Rasey, 88 of Toledo, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, March 18, 2023. His loving wife EmmaMae, was there by his side.
Ray was born to Paul and Violet Rasey on January 22nd, 1935. He graduated from Macomber High School in 1952. He then met the love of his life, EmmaMae Moran, and married her on June 29, 1957. Shortly after marriage, Ray and Emma welcomed in 3 beautiful daughters Dianna, Denise (Neek), and Deanna. The Rasey Triplets.
While busy raising triplets Ray worked as a welder and metal fabricator for Art Iron, Apex Metal Fabricating, then retired from Shill Pattern Company after more than 50 years in the metal fabricating business.
Ray was an avid NASCAR fan and attended the Indianapolis Time Trials with family and friends. Ray regularly attended breakfast gatherings with Macmen of Macomber High School and Art Iron Retirees. Ray and Emma were also members of the Toledo Sailing Club and Ray was honored to play Santa for over 30 years at TSC Christmas Parties. Ray also enjoyed building and spending time at their cabin “Achen Acres”, in Northern Michigan as well as spending time down at their wintering home in Hudson, Florida. Ray and EmmaMae were members of Park Congregational Church.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Violet Rasey, mother and father-in law John & Irma Moran, daughter Denise (Neek) and son-in-law Marty Schuette, sister Pauline and brother-in-law Norm Miller, and brother-in-law Jack Moran.
He is survived by his wonderful and loving wife of 65 years EmmaMae, daughters Dianna (John) Berning and Deanna (Scott) Thompson and brother-in-law Thomas (Alisa) Moran. He is also survived by grandchildren Nicole (Sam) Etherton, Troy Schuette, Heather (Curtis) Pahl, Ashley (Mark) Miller, Natalie Thompson, and Tracey (Nikk) Karns. As well as 10 loving great-grandchildren Collin, Jake, Erin, Kelsey, Lexi, Riley, Logan, Sadi, Aubrey & Carolynn.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 26th from 2;00 p.m. until 8;00 p.m. at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo OH. Ray’s funeral service will begin at the funeral home on Monday, March 27th at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank nurses Stacey and Nicole of Ohio Living Hospice for the loving care they provided during Ray’s final time. Long time special friends Dick Burkett and Dottie Veitch who he considered as his “4th daughter” As well as neighboring family for all their continued help.
Memorial contributions can be made in Ray’s memory to Ohio Living Hospice, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or to any Hospice care of the donor’s choice.
