Phyllis Marie Beaverson, 95 years old, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2024 in her home at Maumee Pointe Assisted Living and Memory Care. She was born to Ford and Anna (Gabers) Lazenby on August 14, 1929 in Napoleon, Ohio. She attended Florida High School and took part in all of the school and county musicals. She sang in the Luther League Choir Federation of Northwest Ohio as well as several church choirs. She also modeled for the Margret O’Brien Agency.
On March 20, 1948, Phyllis married Ralph Beaverson, and the loving couple had three wonderful children together: Jerry, Wayne and Sandra. Ralph and Phyllis spent 22 years together before his departure in 1970. Later, Phyllis would meet and have a special companionship with Leonard Zmuda and his family. Phyllis worked at the Southland JC Penney in South Toledo until her retirement after 35 1/2 years. She also had her own ministry visiting the elderly in nursing homes, and was always there when people would call her needing support. She remains loved and will be missed by so many who knew Phyllis for her kindness, generosity and loving Christian spirit.
Surviving are her two children, Jerry (Nancy) Beaverson and Sandra (Charles) McDonald; her daughter-in-law, Rosanne Beaverson; her sister, Miriam Junge; seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and three great- great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Ralph Beaverson; her parents, Ford and Anna Lazenby; her brother, Robert Lazenby and her son, Wayne A. Beaverson.
The family will receive friends at the Church of the Cross, 1750 Eastgate Rd. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, with funeral services beginning at 12:30, Pastor Joel Schutte officiating. Interment will be private. Arrangements by the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave., 419-382-1700.
