Phyllis A. Damschroder, 87, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on September 9, 2016 at Fairview Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Phyllis was born on February 20, 1929 to Stanley J. and Leah (Sprunk) Damschroder. Phyllis worked for Columbia Gas of Ohio for 35 years, retiring in 1987. She had prior worked for Kemley Electric Co. and the Western Shoe Co. Phyllis was a member of the former Western Avenue United Methodist Church and is a member of Maumee United Methodist Church. Phyllis was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan and also followed the Atlanta Braves. She was a volunteer at the Wolcott House Talking Turtle Gift Shop and a volunteer knitter at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital. She enjoyed knitting dish clothes to give to family and friends. Phyllis loved to travel, traveling to Europe and across the United States.0 Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, and a niece and nephew. She is survivived by her sister Carol Steiner (Kevin), brothers Richard (Elaine) and Nelson (Ethel) Damschroder; 3 nieces and 3 nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 13th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday starting a 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
