Mary Judith Fairchild (Judy) 8/9/1937 - 1/21/23 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully under hospice care surrounded by her family on January 21, 2023 at the age of 85.
Judy was a graduate of Libbey High School in 1955. Where she met Olen (“Oley”) Fairchild Jr. in a study hall class. They married on May 11,1957, at Holy Trinity Church and were blessed to have celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Judy was a bookkeeper for the F.W. Woolworth Company for 30 years and retired January 1, 1993.
Judy loved to be outdoors and around water, as a young girl herself, she spent time at a cottage owned by her parents on Vineyard Lake in Dundee, MI. Once married, Judy and Oley would enjoy family camping trips, traveling around first using tents, then moving up to campers. They then decided to upgrade to a mobile home which was located on Silver Lake in Angola, IN, which the family enjoyed for several years.
In 1985, Judy and Oley really took the plunge and purchased a cottage on Bird Lake in Osseo, MI.
This was the absolute best family time ever. All of her seven grandchildren spent their summers at the lake making memories that will last a lifetime. She loved all of her grandchildren and would spoil them endlessly. They still tell stories to this day about their summers at the lake. Judy would pack them little lunches to eat while enjoying pontoon rides and would hide little surprises, like sour gummy worms, in their plates and enjoyed watching their reactions.
Judy was very artistic and had a passion for crafting. For over 20 years Judy and Oley enjoyed working together to create seasonal items for various craft shows across Toledo.
