Marilyn Margaret Weir Pryka Marilyn Pryka stepped into eternity and the arms of Jesus on April 20, at The Lakes of Monclova in Maumee. Born on August 19, 1930 to Frank E. and Alvina Mardorff Weir, she was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School (1948) and Wittenberg College (1952). Beginning her career in the social work field in Toledo, she then spent a few years in New Orleans before returning to her former job in Toledo, where she worked until having her two sons. In 1963, she went to work in the newly opened Toledo District office of the Ohio Dept. of Public Welfare. In 1979, Marilyn married James Pryka and became stepmother to Janet Harding and Allen Pryka. After 30 years of combined service to county and state welfare departments, she retired in 1985. As a member of various Lutheran churches, Marilyn was very active in local ministries as well as singing in the choirs. She was an avid member of Maumee Community Church, where she made many special friends. In addition to making many church friends, she was blessed to have the opportunity to travel to all 50 states, Canada, Europe and her favorite trip to Israel. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, brother Frank E. Weir, Jr., his wife Marie, brother Roy Weir, his wife Jeanne, her husband, James J. Pryka, and her step-daughter Janet Harding. She is survived by her sons James (Jeannie) Herold and David Herold, granddaughter Katie (Alec) Thieda, step-son Allen Pryka, step-grandsons Rod and Dean (Elena) Harding, brother in law Ray (DeAnn) Pryka and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home on 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, on Friday, April 22 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Services will be held on Saturday, April 23 at 10:00 am with internment immediately following at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cherry Street Mission in Toledo, Ohio.
