Marie Joyce Zimmerman-Meade

Marie Joyce Zimmerman-Meade, 84, of Toledo passed away on January 31, 2017 at Swan Creek Retirement Center. Marie was born on December 9, 1932 in Toledo to Francis and Gladys Stickles. A graduate of Maumee high school, she married James F. Zimmerman in 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1982. Marie worked 20 years beside her brother Byron at his company, Style Rite Lampshades as a bookkeeper and sales associate. She loved to travel and was a caring and compassionate woman. In 1984 she married Melvin Meade and they were married until his passing in 2007. Marie was a member of Palestine Chapter No.51 O.E.S for over 50 years and a longtime active member of Epiphany Lutheran Church. Her favorite times were those spent with her family and friends, especially the wonderful events and gatherings down at the river. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands James and Melvin, daughter Cheryl Jaworski, brother Byron Stickles, sister Shirley and step-daughter Anne Meade. She is survived by children: Sue (Bruce) Winnie and Robert (Susie) Zimmerman, step-children: Kenny (Shelly) Meade, Judy (Kenny) Reese, Jack (Cathy), Tom and Dave Meade. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 grandkitties. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at The Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, from 4 to 9 p.m., where Eastern Star services will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Ft. Meigs Cemetery.
