Louis A. Vanco Jr. 67, of Toledo OH passed away peacefully Friday, October 23, 2015, at Heartland of Waterville due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease. He was a graduate of Clay High School and worked as a Train Director for Conrail/CSX for 40 years retiring in 2008. He was an avid Cleveland Browns, Ohio State and Cleveland Indians Fan and also spent many years coaching his kids' teams at St. Charles School. He also enjoyed bowling and spending time with family and friends. He was an awesome husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and friend. His contagious smile, generous nature and kind heart will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis A. Vanco, Sr. and Alice Vanco; his father-in-law, Bernard LaPlante; nephew, Ryan Wahl and sister-in-law, Barbara LaPlante. Lou is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Debbie (LaPlante); son, Aaron (Crystal); daughter, Angela (James) Campbell and son Andrew; sisters, Linda (Ernie) Wahl and Rose (Jerry) Keller; mother-in-law, Irene LaPlante; brothers-in-law, John (Eva) LaPlante, David (Julie) LaPlante and Tony (Pam) LaPlante and sisters-in-law, Roseann (Dave) Shepard and Janie (John) Grady. His nine grandchildren will miss their Papa deeply, Emalee, Alexis, Jacob, Allison, Zayda, Addison, Ashlyn, Gabriel and Grace. Also surviving are many special nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, on Monday, October 26th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. A scripture service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday with a prayer at 9:45 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1842 Airport Highway, Toledo, at 10:30 a.m. A special thanks goes out to all of the nurses and staff at the Arcadia Center at Heartland of Waterville and the Heartland Hospice nurses who cared for him the last three months of his life. Donations may be given in memory of Lou to the Alzheimer's Association of Northwest Ohio.
