It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Lois Ann Ramsdell. She passed
away peacefully in her sleep early Sunday morning September 10, 2023.
Lois was born on October 14, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to Leroy E. Guerin and Lillian (Hepfinger) Guerin. Although born in the city, her family moved west of Toledo, and Mom grew up as a farm girl. She graduated from Holland High School in 1948.After high school, Mom moved back to Toledo and worked at Toledo Edison where she met Donald Ramsdell. They were married on October 24, 1953 and enjoyed 66 years of marriage until his passing in 2019.
Mom cherished her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was always up to tackling any task including PTA President and Brownie Leader. When Don’s job with Champion Spark Plug transferred the family to Brussels Belgium, Mom immersed herself in the opportunity and made sure the family took advantage of traveling throughout Europe, learning other countries’ customs and traditions.
While Mom loved gardening, playing dominoes and golfing at Toledo Country Club, her true joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Mom enjoyed hosting all the family gatherings including holiday meals and University of Toledo tailgating parties. Mom loved to bake. Her specialty was homemade pies and cookies. Each grandchild had their personal favorite.
Mom’s home was always open to all. Even if her own children were away, it was not uncommon to find our friends there enjoying Mom’s company and some homemade treats.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Donald, brothers James Guerin and Lewis Kaiser.
She is survived by sister Sharon Molnar, sons Terry (Colleen), Tom (LuAnne) and daughter Julie Gibbons (Bruce Wholf) along with grandchildren Jennifer (Keith) Benedict, Melissa (Brian) Fuller, Caitlin (David) Florea, Hunter Gibbons, Grace (Logan) Carpenter and Tyler Ramsdell. She is also survived by great grandchildren Teagan, Madison, Kaleb, Dylan, Griffin, Lucas and Aidan.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice for their caring compassion for Mom. A memorial service will be held at St. Petri Lutheran Church, 3120 S. Byrne Rd., Toledo at 11:00am on September 30, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Shriner’s Children Hospital Transportation Fund at Zenobia Shrine 8048 Broadstone Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 or St. Petri Lutheran Church.
