Lauren E Burgin

March 2, 1993 — August 27, 2017

Lauren Burgin passed away in her home on August 27, 2017. Lauren was born on March 2, 1993. Lauren graduated high school from Phoenix Academy a year early after having attended Springfield High School, where she was in the band and flag corp. She also attended the University of Toledo, and most recently worked in both the admissions office and the IT department at the university, which allowed her to frequently go to lunch with her mom who worked in the same building, time together that they both treasured. Lauren loved music, mostly the popular genres of her generation, but she also had an appreciation for and liked music from a wide variety of genres. If not for Lauren, her dad would have never come to love the White Stripes and other alternative bands. Lauren and her dad attended many memorable concerts together. She also liked to ski with her dad. Lauren also loved animals and really enjoyed riding horses until a back problem rendered it an ill-advised activity. She liked camping and travel. She experienced many memorable places, with Mackinac Island being her favorite vacation spot, where she greatly enjoyed seeing horses everywhere and riding them on the trails. She also enjoyed watching movies and had many favorites. She was a big fan of the TV shows CSI and House. Lauren touched many lives and had a very special bond with her maternal grandmother and they are now together again. Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Bruce and Gail (Short) Burgin, brother Andrew (Courtney) Burgin, nieces Paige and Arya Burgin, grandmother Fanchon Burgin and Godparents Sharon Burgin, David Burgin,, Judy Leu and Jack Short. Lauren is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Wilfred and Matilda (Jack and Tillie) Short, and her grandfather Verrill Burgin. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 16, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 798 S. Coy Rd, Oregon OH (at Coy & Navarre) at 10:30 AM, with visitation starting at 9:00 AM. A luncheon will follow. Burial will be private at Toledo Memorial Park on a later date. The family would like to thank first responders who put forth valiant efforts on Lauren’s behalf, and the agencies, organizations, and dedicated individuals who provided quality and compassionate help towards her goal of resolving the challenges she faced. The family also wants to thank everyone for their support, compassion and love. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either of the following 501 (c)(3) organizations, Racing for Recovery (racingforrecovery.org) or Rescue Mental Health & Addiction Services (www.rescuemhs.com). ~ On Eagle’s Wings, our beloved Lauren is now at peace ~
