Laura Jane White

Laura Jane White, 73, of Toledo, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at McLaren St. Luke’s Hospital. She was born on February 17, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio to Herbert and Inez (Iffland) Mitchell.

Laura was a devoted mom, wife, grandma, and friend. She is survived by her sister, Lois Markwood; her adoring husband of 53 years, Norm, who lovingly called her “Pookie”; and her children, Aaron (Steph) White, Garrick (Tanya) White and Heather (Matt) Thomas. She was passionate about being an involved grandma to Amelia, Gabe, Evan, Lorelle, Jackson, and Nadia. She also leaves behind multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepdad, John Cox; and in-laws, Norm and Till White. Also preceding Laura’s death was her brother-in-law, Jim Markwood; and in-laws, Connie and Jerry Sterling.

Laura took pride in being a stay-at-home Mom who was active in her kids’ numerous sports, activities, and schools. She was involved in Fellowship of Christian Women, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir at Park Church, and was involved with the 9-Holers at HDCC, MRYC, and TCC. Throughout her life, one of the things that brought Laura joy was rescuing a dog to be part of the family. She delighted in traveling to various locations with family and friends, although it was more about the journey and the company than the destination.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43614. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Toledo Christian Schools or Cherry Street Mission.
