Joy Ann Margaret Sanchez

Joy Ann Margaret Sanchez, 59, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on November 14, 2023. She was born on June 11, 1964 to William and Shirley (Fisher) Ervin here in Toledo.

Joy Ann served as a Methodist Minister thru the Wesley Synod with her husband Bishop Steven R. Sanchez, Sr. She was also a part-time preschool teacher at St. John’s Lutheran Church and a volunteer librarian for many years at the former Lutheran Old Folks Home. She loved to crochet and watch John Wayne movies. Her favorite music artists were the Carpenters and Abba.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Steven R. Sanchez, Sr.; parents, William and Shirley Ervin; and father-in-law, Reverend Reno Sanchez.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Michael) Evans; son, Steven R. Sanchez, Jr.; grandchildren, Dean, Alise, and Ian Evans; mother-in-law, Reverend Rebecca Sanchez; siblings, William Ervin, Michael Ervin, Susan Zuehlke, Patricia Ervin and Robert Ervin; and life partner Vincent Phillips.

Visitation will be held at Walter Funeral Home on Monday, November 20, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 21, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
