John Joseph Berning

John J Berning affectionately known as John Joseph, Mr. John, JB, Bones and Pa, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 14th surrounded by loved ones. John was born in Toledo to Jeanette and John Berning who preceded him in death. John was the oldest boy of six children. He was a graduate of Macomber High School and became a tool and die journeyman. John was raised in South Toledo where he met and married Dianna of the “Rasey Triplets”. John was a loving father to two daughters, Heather and Ashley. John was a Jack of all trades. Throughout the years he enjoyed watching NASCAR on Sundays, spending time on the water with a drink in his hand, and could be found tinkering in the garage at any time. John loved to sit back and just observe what was going on. He was a man of few words but had many one liners that could put a smile on your face.

John is survived by his wife, Dianna(Rasey) of 44.5 years, their two children, Heather(Curtis) Pahl and Ashley(Mark) Berning-Miller, their grandchildren, Erin, Lexi, and Sadi, as well as his siblings, Carol Philips(Mike), Jane Finkbeiner, Tim Berning, Bruce Berning, Phyllis Berning, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, on Friday, June 16th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. John’s funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 17th beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio
