James C. Clody (“Jim”) of Sylvania, 81, passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2022, at Brookdale Memory Care. Born in Chicago to Henry and Elizabeth (Carroll), Jim spent a knock-about youth on Long Island with siblings Ken, Don, and Cindy (LeBlanc). Always “high-energy”, Jim channeled his enthusiasm first into high school sports (baseball, football, and wrestling) and later as his fraternity’s social director at Adelphi University, where despite his directorship, graduated with a degree in Mathematics. Jim’s career path blended his talent for numbers with the burgeoning computer age, spending 40+ years in Market Research and Data Analytics, with the last 15 in a company he created. Retired at 68, and true to his youthful affinity for sports, Jim continued his pursuit of the perfect hook, the longest drive, the touch lob. Always trying something new, he will be long-remembered for carrying duffels full of different bowling balls or that crazy one-handed golf swing which frightened anyone ahead or behind him. Jim first met the love of his life, Jean (Leitner), in fifth grade. Eight years later their paths recrossed and Jim knew to hold on tight. Married on July 14th, 1962, they recently celebrated 59 years alongside their four sons and one favorite daughter. Besides Jean, Jim is survived by James (Amy), Christopher (Christine), Gregory (Sophie), Danielle Koperski, and Michael. “Pop-Pop” will be sorely missed by grandchildren Megan, Patrick, Brennan, Nick, Courtney, Jess, Sean, Sophie, Michael, Joe, Augie, Karinna, great-grandson Felix, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by son-in-law Michael Koperski. Services will be entrusted to Walter Funeral Home located on 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, OH. Viewing at 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, February 3rd with a short Service on Friday the 4th at 10am. Jim’s family would like to thank everyone who have supported and cared for him this last year.
