James “Jim” H. Rumschlag, 75, of Toledo, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at University Hospitals Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
Jim proudly served his country in the U.S Navy, retiring as Senior Chief Petty Officer, following 27 years of service. He received numerous medals and ribbons during his service to our country.
Jim was an avid amateur body builder. His sport was the center of his life, competing and sharing his passion for the sport with other body builders, especially younger athletes entering the sport. Jim supported many charities, especially those benefiting Veteran’s causes and humane organizations that fight to prevent cruelty to animals. He loved his faithful companion, his dog Buddy.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Maxine Rumschlag, and his brother, Douglas Rumschlag. He is survived by his sons, Samuel (Traci) Rumschlag, Joseph Rumschlag and Anthony Rumschlag; brothers, Charles (Joyce) Rumschlag and Robert (Mary) Rumschlag; and sisters, Mary Ann (Gerry) Soviar, Laura (Rick) Michalak, Janice Stainbrook and Rebecca (Brian) Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, on Thursday, December 7th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service which begins at 12 noon. Private interment will follow for the immediate family at Toledo Memorial Park.
