Herbert E. Geeting, 79, formerly of Toledo and currently of Jacksonville, FL passed away on August 7, 2016 in Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. Herb was born on October 4, 1936 in Holopaw, Florida to Oliver and Menlies Geeting. He was a graduate of Landon High School in Jacksonville, Florida and then went on to serve for ten years in the National Guard. A member of Local 234 Plumber and Pipefitters Union in Jacksonville, Herb came to Toledo in the 1960’s and worked as a traveler for Local 50 until returning to Florida in the 1980’s. He retired after 53 years with the Union. An avid fisherman, Herb also loved rock collecting and building model airplanes and train sets during his free time. He was preceded in death by his five siblings: Oliver, C.W., Percy and Raymond Geeting and Theresa Lamb. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Carol (Kellar) Geeting, children Elizabeth Merrill, Julie Rader, Paul Geeting and Jeffrey (Amanda) Geeting. He is also survived by grandchildren: Kristi, Cassie, Heather, Steven, Robert and Gracie. Friends may call on Friday, August 12 from 4-8 PM at The Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave, where Masonic Services will be held at 7pm. Funeral services will be from the funeral home on Saturday, August 13 at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
