The world lost a wonderful man and a kind soul on February 5, 2016, with the passing of Harold C. Creswell Jr., 84, (Maumee, OH) when he lost his battle with cancer. Known for his integrity and kindness, Harold was a generous and caring man who was driven, ambitious and passionate about everything he did. Harold served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corp, serving two years in the Korean War. After returning home from the military Harold obtained employment with Haughton Elevators, which turned into a 38 year career. Before going into management, Harold served as President of the AF of L Union. He went on to hold many positions along with attending classes at the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University; ultimately becoming Vice President of Manufacturing for Schindler (Haughton) Elevators. Outside of work Harold enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening and construction projects. He was a member of Faith Community UCC for 46 years and, later, the Church of St. Andrews United Methodist where he served with the Men’s Group. Harold was born in Toledo to the late Harold C. Creswell Sr. and Dorothy M. (Franklin) Creswell. He attended Libbey High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Donnajean (Dietz) and enjoyed life on every level with his wife, best friend and soul mate of 63 years. Harold was the father to 6 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mabel Hendricks, son, Todd and daughter-in-law, Nancy. In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by his sons, Jeff (Rose), Mike, Cris (Geri); daughters, Susan (John) and Cathy (Doug); grandchildren, Janet, Emily, Nathan, Chelsea and Jonathon; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Audrey; and his companion, Toby. Family and friends are asked to celebrate his well-lived life at The Church of St. Andrews United Methodist, Toledo, OH for a memorial service on Saturday, February 13, 2016.
