Glenna R. (Barnes) Scanlan, 96, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Saturday, August 19th at her home. Glenna was born on August 4, 1927 to Harry and Ruby (Shroyer) Poffenbaugh.
Glenna worked for the Toledo School Board. She also worked clerical positions for medical doctors’ offices for many years. In her retirement, she enjoyed gathering for lunch and dinners with friends from JC Penney Group, Weight Watchers, and friends from church. She was an active, life-long member of Faith Community UCC. Glenna enjoyed crafts, especially knitting with her lady friends.
She married Willard George Barnes and they were married for 35 years before his passing. She later married Robert Scanlan and they were married for 15 years.
Glenna was preceded in death by both her husbands and her parents, her son Keith Barnes, two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhoda (Thomas) Taylor, Debbie Johnson, Mary Barnes (Keith, deceased); son, Chris (Brenda) Barnes; and brother, Harold Poffenbaugh. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio on Thursday, August 31st, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 1st at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Contributions in Glenna’s memory can be made to Ohio Living Hospice.
Glenna’s family would like to thank all her friends who came to visit her, sent her cards, and brought meals and treats for her to enjoy. The family would also like to thank the Ohio Living Hospice staff and nurses for the tender care that was given to Glenna.
