Glen Arthur Young Born on September 5, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio to Ruth Young (Langhoff) and George Young, baptized at Redeemer Lutheran Church and called home by his Heavenly Father December 19th. Proceeded in death by parents, infant son, wife Lore, brothers Dale and James “Jim” Young, Uncle Howard and Aunt Sharon Young. Survived by wife Pamela, sons: George (Roni), Steven (Angela), Chris (Kari) Young, Steven (Kati) Meyers and Matthew Meyers. Grandchildren: Samantha, Zachary (Sam), Spencer, Lily, Austin Young and Maggie Meyers. Sisters Bonnie Powers, Norma Jean Cox, brother, Larry (Sharon) Young and Godmother Joyce Jameson. Glen graduated from Rogers High School and the University of Toledo. He was Staff Sargent in the 318th ASA for 7 ½ years serving in Germany, Japan and completing two tours in Vietnam. He later worked for Toledo Pickling and Steel for 20 years and Aeroquip for 14 years in charge of EAP issues, managing maintenance, quality control and safety. Glen was a member of the Elks for 20 years, CRC guard, volunteered for the LPGA (hole #12) and the American Legion post #553. Faithfull member of Faith Lutheran Church serving as a Council member, and President, youth club and maintenance. Glen lead the congregation in the self repair of their tile roof. He loved to golf, camping with family and had a passion for photography, winning many local awards. Glen was a kind and gentle man who loved to help others and was a kid magnet even as he walked down the street. He loved to sing hymns and the old country western songs. Special thanks to Marilyn Sharkey, friend and caregiver, while Glen was at home. Also, to the many loving caring staff and residents of Ridgewood Manor and Hospice of NWO. Friends and family will be received at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43614, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 26th. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 27th at Faith Lutheran Church, 2440 South Ave., Toledo, Ohio. Interment will follow at Young Cemetery, Liberty Center, Ohio.
