Gerald "Jerry" Lashuay

Gerald “Jerry” Lashuay, 90, of Ellenton, Florida passed away on May 19, 2016 at his home. Originally of Toledo, Jerry had moved to Ellenton 33 years ago with his wife, Dolly, after his retirement from Ohio Bell Telephone in September of 1982. He was born in Toledo to Jack and Rosa Lashuay on June 18, 1925. Jerry joined the Navy and served during WWII aboard the USS Coolbaugh from 1943-1946 in the south Pacific. He then worked for Toledo Edison for several years then transferred to Ohio Bell for 30 years until his retirement. He always loved to work and started a pressure washing business cleaning mobile homes. Jerry was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church on Reynolds Road when in Toledo and when he moved to Ellenton in 1982 he became a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Parrish, FL where he was an active member and served as a Trustee. He was a Mason and had been a Past Master of Sylvania Lodge #287 and also a member of The Royal Arch of Masons. Jerry and his wife Dolly, who preceded him in death on April 13, 1996, also belonged to the Sylvania Eastern Stars. Gerald was also a past President of the Manasoto Florida Telephone Pioneers of America in 1991. He also loved to fly radio controlled airplanes and golfing. In addition to Dolly, Jerry was preceded in death by two sons: Tommy Ray on September 6, 2003 and Steven Gale on September 7, 2004. He is survived by his daughter Sandra Lashuay of Ellenton and one grandson Matt Logsdon of New York, a daughter in law Laurel Lashuay and grandchildren Angela, Tony and Teresa and 5 great grandchildren. A Private Graveside service will be held in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements by The Walter Funeral Home, 419-382-1700.
