Eunice Marie Sarnowski

November 24, 1934 — April 7, 2017

Known for her beautiful oil paintings and loving heart, Eunice Marie Sarnowski, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 7 at the age of 82. The former Woodward High School cheerleader lived in Toledo most of her life. A gifted artist, she created multiple scenery backdrops both for Vacation Bible School and Missions conventions during her 60-year membership at Calvary Bible Chapel. Eunice loved working with children at the Gathering Place Preschool where she brought the Bible stories to life as the ‘Bible Lady’ adorned in full costume and accompanied by corresponding props. Her love for the Word of God was evident in her many roles at her church including Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Missions Board Member, and service to the Ladies Guild. Always the hostess, Eunice welcomed friends and family to enjoy her home cooked meals, play a game of dominoes and share their stories. An avid sports enthusiast like her husband, she enjoyed all athletic competition, but particularly college football. Go Fighting Irish! Preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Helen Chesher, and siblings, Hubert, Paul, Lois, Delbert and oldest son Brian. Left to cherish her memory, her loving husband Arthur of 57 years; daughter Kay (Calvin) Smith; son Joe (Erica) Sarnowski; daughter-in-law, Cindy Sarnowski; brother, Daniel (June) Chesher; sister Linda (Richard) Owens; brother David (Jaclyn) Chesher; brother, Samuel (Ruth) Chesher. Her twelve grandchildren were the constant joy in her life. Eunice devoted her life to praying, loving and encouraging each one: Julie (Demetrius) Williams, Christopher Sarnowski, Daniel Sarnowski, Phillip (Chelsea) Sarnowski, Issac Smith, Gabriella Smith, Katrina (Chris) Playford, Dominiq Smith and Esther Smith, Caleb Sarnowski, Jackman Sarnowski and Cayia Sarnowski. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for the tender love and care provided by Edwina Smith, Rhonda Smith and Cindy Sarnowski. Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home on Saturday, April 15 at 11 a.m. followed by the noon service, Rev. Andy Hill officiating accompanied by Rev. Kellie Miller of the Gathering Place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Eunice to Bibles for the World at www.biblesfortheworld.org or by mail to Bibles for the World, P.O.
