Edward M. Stanley

Edward M. Stanley, 68, passed away suddenly on September 23, 2024. Born on August 12,
1956, in Pennsylvania, Ed was the beloved son of Robert and Amelia Stanley. He was raised in
Point Place, Ohio, by his grandparents, Edward and Florence Stanley, along with his Aunt Rose
Carey.
From the age of 14, Ed began working in the family asphalt business, where he developed a
lifelong passion for the trade. For over 45 years, he owned and operated Discount Paving,
earning a reputation for his dedication and skill. In his later years, he semi-retired and took great
pride in supporting his son, Edward, and his nephew, Ronnie Broadway, in their business, R&S
Paving.
Ed was a loving husband to Linda Stanley, with whom he shared 5 children: Kelly Rose (Bryan),
Trisha Misch (Nicholas), Sherry Vargas (Dallas), Amy Corsini (Tony), and Edward Stanley Jr.
(Corri). His legacy lives on through his children, 16 cherished grandchildren, and one
great-grandchild, who will remember him as a kind-hearted man who was always the life of the
party.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ameilia Stanley; his grandparents, Edward
and Florence Stanley; his Aunt Rose Carey; and his sisters, Rosemarie Stanley and Bessie
Broadway. He is survived by his four loving sisters: Millie, Laural, Debbie, and Emma, along with
many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A man of many passions, Ed was an avid pool enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and
playing chess. He loved watching movies, with John Wayne being one of his favorite actors. He
also cherished spontaneous family Sunday drives, often filling the car with all the kids for a day
of adventure. Known for his love of ice cream and his appreciation for good food, he enjoyed
seeking out the best dining spots from Detroit to Cleveland to Columbus.
Ed will be remembered for his warm spirit, his work ethic, and his ability to bring joy to those
around him. His family, friends, and all who knew him will miss him deeply. His memory will
continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 9:00
pm at 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, at Walter Funeral Home, and funeral services
will follow on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family asks
that donations be made to the Colton Strong Kids Nonprofit Organization in his honor.
