Dorothy F. Simpson

Dorothy Francis Simpson (Amos), 87, of Holland, Ohio and formerly of Maumee, passed away on May 13, 2016. She was born in Cadiz, Ohio and grew up in Southeast Ohio. There she met her husband, Leon, of 64 years. They were married on November 2, 1946, and started their family of 6 children. In 1960 they moved to Toledo and became active members of Heatherdowns Church of the Brethern. She worked at several jobs in the area, mostly in the food industry. In her spare time she and her husband enjoyed square dancing and belonged to several local dance clubs. After retirement she spent the next 11 years living part time in Florida, finally settling back in Maumee. In 2012 she moved to Spring Meadows where she made many new friends and lived there the remainder of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon, and son Rickey. She is survived by her sister, Sarah Clary, of Seville, OH; sons Bob (Jackie) of Swanton, Terry (Theresa) of Sun City, AZ, Jim (Roxanne) of Woodville, OH; daughter-in-law Diana Bechtel-Simpson of Grand Rapids, OH; daughters Sherry Simpson of Toledo, Oh, and Linda Simpson of Maumee, OH. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at The Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 21st with a memorial service beginning at 7 p.m. There will be no graveside service.
