On Monday November 8, 2021, Dora Herold, 97, loving wife, mother and grandmother went into the arms of the Lord very gently and peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Elkhart Indiana on October 11, 1924 to Larvy Davis and Sadie Hickman. Following their tragic death, Dora was adopted by Jacob and Reva Stump, friends of her mother, who brought her to Toledo. She graduated from Libby High School in 1942 and attended Toledo University. On a double date with other people, she met Ralph Herold and on October 2, 1948 they were married lasting almost sixty years until his death in 2008. She had a passion for flower arranging and joined Anthony Wayne Garden Club where she was a long time member entering many shows at the Toledo Botanical Garden. Eventually she became a member of the Ohio Council of Nationally Accredited Flower Show Judges and was member and treasurer of the Garden Forum. A tennis enthusiast, she played for many years with various groups at Laurel Hill Swim and Tennis club and played her last doubles match at age 87. She was also a member of various bridge groups over the years and loved the challenge of the game. She attended Broadway Methodist Church then Zion United Methodist Church all her life, singing in the choirs and playing the bells, as well as working in the women’s organizations and attending General Conference, in Lakeside, Ohio. She and Ralph also attended the Toledo Symphony concerts through the years and loved introducing their children to the symphony and musical theatre as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and her husband Ralph. She is survived by their three children: Jennifer (John) Oster, Mark Herold , and Julie (Terry) McKamey. She has ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, on Sunday, November 14th, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be from the funeral home on Monday beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
