David was born on December 20, 1950 to Victor and Stella Capaldi in Ferndale, Michigan. He was one of four children: Maria, Tony, and Joseph.
After David graduated from Immaculate Savior Highschool in Ferndale, Michigan he went on to serve in the Vietnam War. Between April 1, 1971-April 30,1976 where he earned the Air Medal, 3 Commendation Medals , National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. David was honorably discharged. On December 20th 1975 he married Helen (Elsner) Taylor and celebrated the birth of his only child, Jaime McGinnis, in 1976.
He lived most of his life in West Bloomfield, Michigan, where he raised his daughter, and worked for decades at Atlaas Cop-co as a machinist. David was a dedicated father and was exceptionally close to his daughter, Jaime. He spent most of his time with family. If he wasn’t visiting his parents, he could be found bonding with his grandson. He had a love for photography and was always behind the camera. We will miss him capturing our families most precious moments.
David was predeceased by his father and mother, Victor and Stella Capaldi. He is survived by his daughter Jaime, son-in-law Terry, Grandchildren John, Courtney, and Blaize McGinnis, and his former wives Helen Elsner and Roxanne Tan Capaldi.
Services will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan on March 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
