David L. Peterson

David L. Peterson, 70, of Toledo, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Northwest Ohio. David was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 22, 1950 to Joseph and Doris (Kamm) Peterson. David was a graduate of Bowsher High School. He worked for Conrail/CXS Railroad for 42 years, retiring as Yard Master in 2010. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Kay, and together they had visited 46 states and Canada, having visited Disney World over 50 times. David was a devoted father and was very proud of his children. There wasn’t a recital or sporting event he would miss for his children. David was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan. David was generous, a caring man who loved his family very much and was known as Papa to all. David was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Kay in 2015. He is survived by his daughter Kristina (William) Bates and son Kyle Peterson; sisters Leona Stivers and Jean (Mike) Medlen. His “daughter of heart” Heidi (Patrick) Okerbloom and their son Hayden. Also surviving are 4 nieces and a nephew, many cousins and extended family. Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, on Thursday, December 17th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services and burial at Toledo Memorial Park will be private for his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David’s name are suggested to Humane Society of Toledo or Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio.
