Daniel Joseph Chesher

Daniel Joseph Chesher 90, of Toledo, OH embarked on the most important journey of his life on Dec. 1, 2021 at Sunset Village surrounded by family and friends. Dan was one of nine children born to Clifford and Helen Chesher on Dec. 27, 1930. He served proudly in the U.S. Army in post war Germany and following his return home started his career with Libby Owens Ford, Rossford for 30 years. Dan was one of the founding members of Calvary Bible Chapel where he served faithfully after his retirement for over 25 years as part of the maintenance team. He was a simple, humble man who lived a life of good character. Dan was a walking, living example of a man of God and was always seen with a bank in his hand to collect money to mail out Bibles! His passion was missions and spreading the gospel. Dan traveled to 17 countries (many more than one time) installing water, electric, and phone systems for mission outreaches through Tech Serve and Wycliffe Associates. He was also a vital part of “Bibles for the World” ministry and is responsible for sending hundreds of thousands of Bibles all over the world. Dan is survived by his wife June, the love of his life of 41 years; a son Donald (Jodi), brother, Samuel Chesher (Ruth), grandchildren, Rhonda Nerren, Rashelle Stafford, Gary Elgin, Jr., great grandchildren Anna, Sarah, Mary Elizabeth, Nolan, Lydia Rose, and Daniel Nerren, Grant, Clair, Polly, and Lance Stafford, London, Ryder and Piper Elgin, many adoring nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law Dick Owens and Art Sarnowski, special friends, Rev. Andy Hill, Jason & Shirley Mowery, Russ Allan, Edwina Smith, and Mark, Kelly, and Isaiah Miller of The Worship Barn Church and his special fur baby Keedo. He is preceded in death by daughter Dena Noel Elgin, infant daughter Danielle Chesher, and son Daniel Chesher, Jr., sisters, Linda, Eunice, and Lois, brothers, David, Delbert, Paul and Hubert. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 10th from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 11th from 9:00 am, until 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Bible Chapel, 3740 W. Alexis Road, Toledo, OH. 43623. A celebration of life dinner will be held in Dan’s honor in the Calvary Bible Chapel Family Life Center following the committal service at Toledo Memorial Park.
