Carl William Hischka

September 6, 1936 — May 1, 2022

Carl William Hischka, 85, of Toledo, was born September 6, 1936, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, May 1, 2022. Carl was blessed with a large and loving family who he cherished. He met his wife to be, Judy, as they were both in a wedding together, soon engaged and married later April 6th, 1957. Their romance lasted all 61 years and was blessed with three wonderful children, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He lived vicariously through his children and grandchildren. They brought him so much joy and happiness. Carl had a contagious yet feisty spirit and a sharp memory until the day he died. He was the life of every gathering, as his jokes and cherished stories he loved to share were never ending. Carl was a self-proclaimed comedian, and you could not help but laugh along with him. Carl had many close relationships with people from Jeep, that he considered family. Carl loved sports, especially football, where his favorite team was Ohio State. He spent his free time watching various sports games live and on TV, setting his alarm for special games, in Carl’s words “my game’s on.” Carl was known by several nicknames; Bill, Billy, Crazy Carl and Buck. The guys at Jeep called him Cadillac Carl. Carl was always there to help relatives and friends, and even though he would not express with words his love, his actions would show the love he had for his family and close friends. Carl was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Also, Carl was a member of St. Lucas Church. Carl’s faith was especially important to him, as he stressed to everyone he came across the importance of the Lord. After retiring with 29 years in 1991 from Jeep, Carl stayed busy caring for his son David who suffered from a rare disease (FOP). Carl also managed his rental properties, as he could repair and fix most anything. He also enjoyed volunteering at St. Lucas Church. Carl had a strong relationship with God and will be doing these hobbies in Heaven. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Carl Hischka; wife, Judy (Wintersteen) Hischka; sons, David and Kevin Hischka; and sisters, Carol Thompson and Wilma Hoch. He is survived by his loving daughter, Julie Hischka; his grandchildren, Brittany, Courtney, and Austin Hischka; and great-grandchild K.J. Carl enjoyed his life and took the time to thank some of those that made the end of his life as peaceful and positive as possible. Topping the list is family and close survivors, also nieces and nephews, and the most important his daughter Julie who was always there by his side caring for him. Visitation and celebration of Carl’s life will be held on Friday, May 6th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio.
