Barbara Lewis

Barbara Lewis, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt age 84, slipped from this life into eternity with Jesus on August 12, 2021. Barbara was born in Toledo to Charles and Marian Kellar on December 15, 1936. After graduating from Edward Drummond Libbey High School in 1954, Barbara began a career at Haughton Elevator. In 1959, she married the love of her life, James C. Lewis, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1972. Barbara raised their four children, Lorri, Beth, Kim, and Jim, dedicating her life to them. In order to support her children, she worked for Toledo Hospital for more than 20 years before retiring. Barbara was known for her faith, kindness, and generosity, giving to others even when she had little to give. Barbara’s faith in Christ was the cornerstone of her life, and that faith gave her the strength to face many challenges and remain joyful. She not only cared for her children and helped with grandchildren, but she also cared many years for her mother. She remained a faithful daughter- in-law throughout her life as well. Her faith has been passed down to her children and grandchildren, and that faith is her living legacy. She embodied a quiet, reserved strength that was always a bit unexpected, but was inspirational to everyone who loved her. Barbara is survived by her four children and their spouses. Lorri and Felix Vallone, Beth and Patrick Errington, Kimberly and Jon LaRou, and Jim and Chris Lewis. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Kati (Ryan) Kleimola, Thomas Errington, Jimmy (Tabitha) Lewis, Adam (Amy) Errington, Andrew (Meredith) Errington, Jonathan Vallone, Joshua Lewis, Christian (Ashley) Vallone, Daniel (Heather) LaRou, and Kandice (Chris) Kravetsky; 11 great-grandchildren, Daniela, Lila, Caleb, Daisy, Levi, Noah, Luke, Jacob, Jolynn, Hadley, and Molly; her sister, Carol Geeting, her brother, Charles (Bill) Kellar, Jr. (Rosie). She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Lewis, Jr, her parents, Charles Sr. and Marian Kellar, and her grandson, Jacob LaRou. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 16th from 6-8 p.m. at Walter Funeral Home, located at 4653 Glendale Ave, Toledo. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 17th at 10:30 a.m. at Walter Funeral Home, with internment following graveside at Toledo Memorial Cemetery.
