Thelma A. (Piel) Fuller, 84, of Toledo, went to meet her Savior and Lord on March 28, 2021. The daughter of Rev. Frank Christoph Piel and Louisa Augusta (Krueger) Piel, Thelma was born in Cortland, IN on April 28, 1936. After the passing of her father, she was raised in Toledo in a home on White St. with her mother and aunt Meta Krueger, with 5 brothers and 2 sisters. A graduate of Waite High School class of '54, a member of National Honor Society, Thelma loved participating in band, choir and marching band, where she met Leland Fuller. Married on June 8, 1956, they lovingly raised their four children, Linda (Rob) Hyter, Martin (Deborah) Fuller, Alan (Joe Bremgartner) Fuller, and Joy (Alex) Northup in south Toledo. Thelma worked in the offices of Libbey Owens Ford as a receptionist and later Scheib-Snow & Co. as an office administrator. She volunteered for 52 years as a concert usher at the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle, and used her talent as a church organist, pianist, and choir member. She supported fund raisers, small businesses, charities, shelters, and anyone that needed help. Many times, anonymously. She gave free piano lessons to many young people. A member of the Toledo Christian Festival Choir, she joyfully sang praise to God in concerts into her late 70's. She was active in numerous ministries at Emmanuel United Brethren Church, later at Heritage Church of God, and as a member of Gideon's International. She loved having lunch with friends, activities within the Genesis Village community, and in the late stages of her journey was grateful for the caregivers of Spring Meadows Nursing Care, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, and The Toledo Clinic Cancer Center. Thelma was a beacon of kindness to others, a listening friend, a wonderful wife and mother, a passionate servant of God, and felt great joy in spending time with grandchildren: Stephen, Kirsten, Kerrie, Matthew, Steve, Erin, Kevin, Justine, Matthew, Ryan, McKenzie, and Robbie and great grandchildren: Bailee, Ivy, and Charlee Grace. She is preceded in death by her husband Leland, granddaughter McKenzie, brothers Walter, Gary, Ted, and Hilbert, and sisters Ruth, Hilde, and Dorothea. She is survived by her brother Luther Piel. There will be private Family services at this time. Any memorials can be made to Heritage Church of God, or Gideons International. When it is again safe for family groups to gather, a memorial service celebrating Thelma's life is tentatively scheduled for late summer.
