Richard A. Walters, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born on February 18, 1936 in Vanlue, Ohio, to Byron and Helen (Finch) Walters. He was married to the love of his life Sally Sandwisch for forty years
Richard worked and retired from Columbia Gas of Ohio after 40 years of service. He served in the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard. He loved fishing and building custom made fishing rods, bowling, watching old westerns, especially John Wayne movies.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sally ,and brother Gary Walters. He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Gina) Walters, of Toledo, Ohio; daughter Cheryl Ann (Jason) Penhorwood, of Russells Point, Ohio and son Staff Sergeant Jay (Tricia) Walters, Montana Army National Guard, of Great Falls, Montana. Also surviving are grandchildren Erin Walters, Airman 1st Class Tyler Walters, US Airforce and Emily Walters and Army Specialist Cody Penhorwood, Ohio National Guard. As well as his nieces, nephews , and many close family friends.
Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, on Monday, February 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services, at the funeral home, will begin on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
