MILTON R. POMMERANZ, age 74, was called home to the Church triumphant on May 10, 2021. He was born November 4, 1946, along with twin brother Mel, to Milton G. and Estelle Pommeranz. Milt was a proud graduate of Libbey High School. He continued his education at The University of Toledo, where he earned both a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering. Subsequent to graduation from UT, Milt served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. At the time of his passing, Milt was just shy of celebrating 50 years of wedded bliss with the love of his life, Patricia Gribble, whom he married August 21, 1971. Together they raised four wonderful children. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a Professional Engineer, most recently with BEC Associates. Milt was past President and served on the Board of the Luther Home of Mercy. He was also the long-time President of Church Council at St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday School and Adult Bible Class, sang in the Choir, and played softball and dartball over many years of faithful membership. Milt was a long-time member of the Merickel-Farley Trout Club. Milt loved the Lord, his family, fishing, and hunting, especially with friend Russ. Having always put others first, Milt was able to donate the precious gift of sight upon his passing. This man of God will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his wife Patricia, children Michelle (Marty), Milton E. (Julie), Matthias (Annika), and Michael J. (Amy), grandchildren Madden, Abby, Magdalena, Matthias, and Silas, sister Jean (Tom, deceased), brothers Mel (Kay), and Michael A. Pommeranz. Visitation will be Friday, May 21, from 3-8 p.m., at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave. The funeral service will take place, Saturday, May 22, 11:30 a.m. (with visitation one hour prior), at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 708 S. Erie St., Toledo, where his son the Rev. Matthias R. Pommeranz will lead the celebration of Milt’s life. Masks are mandatory. Interment will be private. The family especially thanks the ER and A5 ICU staff at The Toledo Hospital for the compassionate care they provided during the last hours of Milt’s time here on Earth.
