Marilee Hockenberger

Marilee Hockenberger, age 87, formerly of Woodville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Marilee was born May 9, 1936 to the late Fred and Irene Kneip in Sandusky County, Ohio.

Marilee was a lifelong Lutheran, having belonged to Solomon Lutheran Church and later Bethel Lutheran Church. It was her strong faith that held fast during her lifetime. Throughout her life, Marilee was a devoted caregiver, always caring for others before herself. A nurse by vocation, Marilee took care of many in her family along with several neighbors and friends.

An avid reader, she always had a number of books within reach to be enjoyed with both M & M's and Werther's caramel candy. Marilee was also very creative and artistic, having taken art classes and creating personalized birthday cakes and costumes for the family.

Marilee was kind and loving, with a little bit of sassiness. She was an avid dog lover and found enjoyment in receiving visits as well as regular updates and photos of her granddogs.

Marilee is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Fred Hockenberger, Jr.; her daughters Tami (Ken) Lynch and Karla (Osvaldo) Pino; her son, Brian (Courtney) Hockenberger; her grandchildren, Andrew (Mackenzie) Lynch, Erin Lynch, Michael Pino; her sister, Sharon Brown, brother and sister-in-law Jim Hockenberger and Julie Tedrow; several neices and nephews along with adopted family members, Laurie Collins, Sharon Tarlow and Jeff Schmader. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Jim Brown,

along with her parents and mother and father-in-law, Evelyn and Fred Hockenberger, Sr.

Per Marilee's wishes, she was cremated and requested that there be no visitation.
